  • I am back from Seoul. Had a fun time.

Lots of people stared at me, and said "hello" to me. I guess I'm still a party favour in the big city! Oh well.

Let me just say: Starbucks. I'm serious, I saw no less than eight Starbucks stores in Seoul...and needless to say, I was not scouring the city in search of them.

Let me just say one more thing: we have no Starbucks in Daejeon. Not a single, solitary one. Not even...like...a corner 'Bucks tucked away in the back of some nondescript coffee shop. No, noone.

Did lots of shopping, and probably spent far too much money. But alas, I was on vacation, and I've money to spend (not gratuitously, mind you), so I don't feel too guilty. My success story is that we went to a big electronics market, and I managed to get away with only having spent scant monies on a few (illegal) DVD's. Oh, and some blank CD's. Not extravagant, I think you'd agree.

Below I will post some pics from the trip. Hope you enjoy. And as you can see, Korea has a charm of its own?/SPAN>especially Seoul.

    1. Craig and Angela at Bennigan's...luck o' the Irish?
    2. This church has the biggest congregation in the world...something crazy like 100,000.
    3. This is me after shopping in an underground mall for hours. Ready to go? Fed up? c) All of the above.

    1. This big trendy place downtown at night. I forget what it's called.
    2. This is the same place, just a few hours earlier...before the sun goes down and the lights go off.

    1. Hmmmm...anyone for a tour through the 'Kimchi Field Museum'? Sounds compelling...
    2. Either this sign, or the clothes in this store are 'Made by Jesus'
    3. Sunset from the train window.

    1. Roasted chestnuts...I was so happy! Loved these in Europe, and good news folks: same great taste here in Korea!
    2. The Shrimp Burger at Burger King in Korea...not a popular menu item back home, I'm guessing. Looked like head cheese.
    3. This was generally my view on the subway trains. And this is why I am such a party favour. One girl actually looked at me and said, "Whooaaaaaa!"

    1. This is allegedly the biggest Starbucks in the world. Five stories high...that's right. And CA-RAZY busy.
    2. An outside view of the same Starbucks--crazy inside and out.

    1. This was my view from the fourth floor of aforementioned Starbucks.
    2. Be careful, because the drink they'll give you at this store...'it is so hot!!'
    3. This Starbucks sign was in Korean--but I was still able to spot it...like a hawk spotting a mouse in the grass. It was mine...oh yes, it was mine.
