  • I nearly fell asleep at the wheel several nights ago, on my way home from a friend's house.

    Very tired was I.

I have, however, discovered a remedy for behind-the-wheel-tiredness. If
you shove your pinky finger up your nose, almost as far as you can, it'll make
you sneeze. And, I've found that a good sneeze, besides covering the
windshield in mucous, is good for a good three to four minutes of
    alertness.

I'm not saying it's cool, and it's embarrassing to admit, but I feel as
though it's my duty to impart this slightly distasteful, albeit useful,
bit of wisdom to those who may at some point need it.

Coffee, schmoffee....it's all about digging for.....sneezes.

  • A trucker once gave me this remedy for alertness, take a $100 bill, or the largest bill you have.  Now roll down your window while driving and stick your hand with the bill outside the window keeping the bill between your thumb and  middle finger.  Your concentration should improve remarkably.

  • How about pulling over or just driving insanely faster? Caffeine?

  • Did I ever tell you this story?  In October, when I drove to Virginia for Sarah Forrester's wedding, I took Greg's BMW which has a TAPE DECK.  But who cares, it's a beamer, right?  So I couldn't find a hotel on my way out after the wedding and around 4 am I was REALLY starting to fall asleep on 80, which is generally not good, but especially not good right before deer season.  So I ... popped in my favorite of the college mixes and the sheer joy of the memories woke me up and I opened the sun roof and sang as loudly as I could all the way home.  Thanks Andrew.  xx
