  • Tagged by SETH...to give 5 weird habits. I think I've done this before already, but what the heck. I'm weird enough, I can come up with 5 more, easily.

    1. When I wash my hands, I dry them meticulously...making sure every finger is dry, between my fingers, the top of my hand, etc. Some call me neurotic, I call me thorough.

    2. When I'm working on my computer, I have to arrange the windows (internet, messenger, iTunes, etc.) perfectly, like a game of Tetris or something. Again, neurotic vs. thorough.

    3. I don't like getting into an un-made bed. Even if it's been un-made all day, I'll generally make it right before I get into it.

    4. The screen on my cell phone has to be clean. If it's dirty, I can't use the phone.

    5. When I was twelve years old, I was traveling to Dinosaur Provincial Park in Drumheller, Alberta, and the man driving (my friend's father) had on a radio program about the proper method for pouring ketchup. That lesson has stuck with me ever since, and to this day, I pour ketchup correctly. Here's the problem: everyone knows it...the ketchup stays in the bottle until you dig in after it with a knife, or, worse, it all comes gushing out at once.

But here's how to fix it:

Tap the ketchup bottle gently on the "57" label, assuming it's Heinz. Not the one on the fat part of the bottle, but the one on the neck of the bottle, right near the cap.  Doing so "affects the physics of the ketchup" and allows free flow of the previously jammed tomatoey substance.

  • wow. thanks for that. i don't think i'll ever look at ketchup the same way again.

do you ever think about the fact that your cellphone is getting dirty WHILE you're using it? i hope you don't get all conflicted and keep telling the other person to hold on while you clean your screen. seems like that could happen.

  • Back in the day when I shared an office computer with you I used to have this strange feeling I shouldn't move the desktop icons...now I know why.

  • how was the flames game?
and you forgot to mention that you refuse to drink milk products after anyone else and you refuse to share your fingernail clippers. :)
thanks for praying for me. things are a little better, but i still need prayers, so please keep lifting them up.

  • Hmm. I never considered that it wasn't the norm to completely dry one's hands. Is this a rampant problem? And I knew about that ketchup thing, I think I learned it on a whitewater rafting trip... the cell phone, the windows, the properly arranged sheets and blankey... we may have been separated at birth.

  • So almost everything you said made sense to me. I don't make my bed before I get in it, but I do have to arrange the sheets before getting into it. If it's hanging too far to one side it drives me crazy. And I love you for the cell phone thing...people make fun of me for wiping mine off all of the time. Thank you for validating me

  • I have to say that numbers 1 & 2 are mostly likely the result of a mild OCD neurosis... but hey, we all have a touch :)
Number 3 makes sense and number 4 is right on. I wipe after every use. Who wants face goo on their cell screen? And I thought everyone knew about the ketchup thing. Say NO to the knife technique.
