  • I have a serious question, so serious answers only, please.

I have always been interested in automechanics, believe it or not. Ever
since I can remember, I've wanted to know how cars work, how to fix
them, etc. I never necessarily wanted to be a mechanic by trade, but
it's always been of huge interest to me.

SAIT (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology) here in Calgary has a
10-week "Introduction to Automotive Maintenance" program (April 24-June
30). I'd love to do this. Only hitch is....it would probably reduce my
income/shift availability at work, and it costs $3950. So, what to do?
I suppose at the end of the program, there could actually be a better
job available for me? Who knows.

    Just want your opinions.

Addendum: Also, would I be a fool for taking out more student loans to pay for this?

  • I'm going to see a movie that received a rating of 0% on Rotten Tomatoes. Zero.

Why? Because I'm a glutton for punishment. Some would say "sucker." I prefer "easily entertained."

  • Did anyone watch The Colbert Report two nights ago? On The De-Deification of the American Faithscape? OH...wow. Too funny. I just had to ask.

His final recommendation for surviving the Apocalypse was the Toyota
Camry, over Christianity, Buddhism and Islam (although Christianity
came in a close second, apparently). After all, the Camry features
side-impact airbags. Who else can provide that? Hmmm.

I don't have much to say. Going to a friend's for dinner tonight, and that should be good. Yeah, my life is uber exciting!!

  • Favourite Quote of the Day: "I don't have the proper constitution for my own antics." -tiddinsjane

I have quite a few things I feel like I *could* write on here, but I'm either too lazy, or feel like they'd be very uninteresting. People only want to hear about great adventures, computer hacking skills, and the like.

How many llamas do you think have been named "Tina" since Napoleon Dynamite was released in theatres? I wonder. If someone could please research this and let me know, I'd be greatly appreciative.

In other news, and only really for the those watching American Idol: an article I came across online explained that online gambling sites are now taking bets on who the next winner will be. The results were a little surprising to me. I think the voters had clearly consumed too much Budweiser. Or, at the precise moment of voting, choked collectively on corndogs.  These people are high on crack AND off their rockers...clearly the types that would vote for Scott Savol and not Nadia Turner; after all, Savol validates their low-income, wife-beating, El Camino-driving existences.

That said, and for any who may care, I think Elliot Yamin, Paris Bennett, Katharine McPhee and Taylor Hicks are the best four. Hands down.

It's late and these group homies will need my alertness in the morning--so I'm out of here. Goodnight!

  • Haiku Friday

    Ein Stkchen Wahrheit
    Damit du keine 瓏gste
    Ein bisschen Klarheit

Well, I tried a German Haiku again...with a little help from my pal Xavier Naidoo.

  • One year ago exactly, I wrote the following excerpt in my Xanga, and it's still remarkably poignant for me right now:

Lately I've really been thinking about the value of honesty. Sometimes
it comes as a shock, and sometimes it comes like an old shirt, smooth
as butter and comfortable as your own skin. Regardless, I'm learning to
appreciate it. However, sometimes the truth hurts, and sometimes the
truth is terrifying. But the good book says that it will set you free.
So what are we waiting for? Sigh...

  • Cool Runnings: The Curse of the Continental Drift

The continental drift, which many speculate began when the God of the Bible sent the great floods to purge the earth of its filthy human hordes, and which continued for quite some time, is now responsible for my current state.

I imagine one big land mass, united not only geographically, but also in heart and soul...and mai tai's.  In this paradise, neither snow nor hockey would exist. Banana Boat (both the sunscreen and the inflatable water device) would hold dominion over all others.  The "glare off the white" would refer to the pristine beaches or pale buttocks' of shy citizens, and not mounds of snow as far as the eye can see.

And hockey. No hockey. No Andrew in mourning. No Team Canada ousted by the Russians.

I'm done. Moving to Jamaica and joining a Bobsled team.

  • Rhyming Tuesday
In honour of Ryan D Cordell

"It'll change your life," she said,
So I listened to it, face red,
    Embarrassed for the libidinous purebred.
And the poor fellow it tried to bed.

So I New Slanged till my ears bled,
    Chorus coursing through my head,
Until my love and hate were wed,
For the song, too oft played--
        --and for now, dead.
