Quote of the
Day:
You fondle my trigger, then you blame my gun.
~Fiona Apple, Limp
_________________So let's see...what's
new? Oh yeah. Not sure if anyone would remember back around Christmas
when I interviewed for a better position at work and didn't get it.
Well, I interviewed for it again last week and I did get it this time!
I'm excited about that. Should be more challenging, better hours,
benefits, etc. All the good things that make me go, "Ahhhhhhh, YES!"
Or...something like that.If anyone is unfamiliar with Fiona Apple, then shame on you! Shame on
you again! You should go listen to some of her music right away. Not
only is she skinny as a rail and therefore physically acceptable in the
climate of our the-skinnier-the-better society which pop culture
continues to cultivate, but she is actually very, very talented. She
writes her own music and sings it! What could be better?I was reminded of Fiona Apple again by my South African friend, Charlie, after about a six-month (unwittingly taken) hiatus from her.
He just started his own Xanga, so swing by and say hello. At any rate,
I was most pleased to become reaquainted with this music. It also
reminds me of Matt Lewis,
who introduced me to her. Indeed, indeed. He also introduced me to Jeff
Buckley. My, my. I do believe I owe him something--a dinner at
least. Anyway, I'm rambling and the buzzer on the oven just went
off, signaling that my dessert is ready for consumption. There I go!Be well.

Say... do I qualify for a dinner as well? Hehe...
You cant forget that Fiona Apple is about the same age as you Drew. Which means she was roughly 18 when she wrote "Tidal." I find the level of maturity in that album to be quite remarkable considering her age at the time! Oh and congratulations on the job man!
What's the farthest south you would ever live? In real life. I know NE Georgia is pretty far south, but it was temporary so it doesn't count.
You do owe me dinner, and should you come down here for any reason, I shall collect on your debt.
i just heard her newest cd a month or so ago - and i love it!! i don't remember her being this good in high school. although that was during my gangsta phase - so i was a bit tainted and one-sided as far as music goes.
yay for moving up at work! i'm happy for you, Drew.
I've heard the same thing about Oregon... the perfect place to live. I asked because Claudia and I were talking about how we think you should visit and that it's a bummer we don't live in drop-by-for-the-heck-of-it distance.
cool... I like her music...
oh, how many times that quote has run through my head. i think 'when the pawn' is her best album. every song is filled with lines that can express the knot in your stomach you feel at times.
Many congrats on the new job. Well done.
Drew...its been too long. I need to come to the iceburg they call Canada.
